On February 16 and 17, 2026, Sofia hosted a significant bilateral business forum. The event took place at the Sofia Balkan Palace Hotel and brought together over 40 Greek business representatives and nearly 180 Bulgarian companies, including industrial and business organizations, ports, local authorities, universities, and academic institutions from both countries.
The forum is part of the visit of the Greek delegation, led by the Deputy Minister of Interior of Greece, responsible for Macedonia and Thrace, Konstantinos Gioulekas, and focuses on expanding bilateral trade relations, promoting investment, and creating new business networks between Bulgaria and Greece.
“We see our future together with your future and would like to see what we can build together,” said Gioulekas. He emphasized that the intensive exchange between the citizens of both countries, including travel and youth education, is a “bridge of friendship and cooperation” that should be further developed.
The manager of Sliven Industrial Park, Solomon Moscona, presented investment opportunities in the newly built park in the city under the Blue Stones to the participants.
Representing the Sliven delegation at the forum were Ms. Maria Belova – MP from Sliven, Mr. Kamen Kostov – Deputy Mayor of Sliven Municipality, Dr. Atanas Grunov – Chairman of the Federation of Karakachans in Bulgaria, and Mr. Zhelyo Dobrev – a construction entrepreneur from Sliven.
The forum in Sofia demonstrated a clear strategic vision for long-term economic and infrastructural cooperation between Bulgaria and Greece. The strong presence of business and institutions, the signed memorandums, and the exchange of experience show that both countries are not only strengthening existing ties but also building new bridges for investment, innovation, and regional growth.
The overall organization of the event was carried out jointly by the Embassy of Greece in Bulgaria, the Greek Ministry of Interior, the Bulgarian-Greek Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BGCCI), and the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI).
